Excavator Hydraulic Main Pumps: One Pump Family, Many Machine Brands

The same Kawasaki-designed pump series powers machines from Kobelco to Komatsu, Hitachi, Sany and XCMG. What that means for buyers — and how to order the right one.

Excavator Hydraulic Main Pumps: One Pump Family, Many Machine Brands

Buyers are often surprised to learn that machines from different makers — sometimes marketed as competitors — share the same main pump family. The Kawasaki K3V and K5V axial-piston series have become the common language of excavator hydraulics, fitted or commonly quoted across Kobelco, Komatsu, Hitachi, Sumitomo, Sany, XCMG and other makes. That is good news for buyers: it means deep supply, competitive pricing and repair options at every grade. Corbay is the international export brand of Guangzhou Shenyue Machinery Technology Co., Ltd., Guangzhou, China. Main pumps and their internals are among the assemblies we quote most, and this guide is the conversation we have with every pump buyer.

One Pump Family, Many Machine Brands

On Kobelco machines, the SK200-8 class is fitted with a K3V112-series main pump, and the SK350-8 class steps up to a K5V140 — our K5V140DTP pump page shows the format we quote from. The same K3V/K5V series is commonly quoted across many other machine brands and tonnage classes, which is why pump requests should start with the nameplate on the pump itself, never with the machine model alone. Two machines wearing different badges can carry the same pump; two versions of the same model can carry different pumps. The pump series designer documents the family, but the machine maker's build records — read through the serial number — decide what your machine actually carries.

Pump, Regulator or Control Valve? Diagnose Before You Order

All functions slow, worse under load and hot.Points at the pump's rotating group or the supply. Confirm with main circuit pressure and case-drain flow before ordering.
One function slow or drifting.More likely the control valve section or the circuit relief for that function — not a reason to buy a pump.
Power mode dead, engine loading wrong.Often the pump regulator or its solenoids, not the rotating group. A regulator is a fraction of a pump's price.
Whining that rises with pressure, or hot return oil.Classic rotating-group wear — check case drain flow first, and sample the hydraulic oil for metal. Our hydraulic oil contamination guide shows what to look for.

The technical team at Guangzhou Shenyue Machinery Technology Co., Ltd. — each member with more than ten years on excavator parts — talks through these checks before quoting a pump. A large share of "bad pump" calls end up solved by a regulator, a solenoid or a control-valve seal, at a tenth of the cost.

Genuine, OEM, Aftermarket or Reconditioned — What Each Means for a Pump

Genuine carries the pump maker's traceability — the safe choice for high-hour machines that must keep working.
OEM-quality units come from the same component supply base as the original, at a meaningful saving.
Aftermarket rotating groups and parts are legitimate budget options when the maker is named and the grade is stated; unnamed castings are not worth the risk on a pump.
Reconditioned complete pumps — a used core rebuilt to specification — must be sold as reconditioned, never as new. Bearings in pumps work under extreme duty, so we supply known-brand bearings in rebuild sets and say plainly which parts in a kit are worth paying for.

What We Need to Quote a Main Pump

A photograph of the pump nameplate — pump series, maker and number. This is the authority.
Machine model and serial number.Regulators and drive details differ between builds.
The symptom and the measurements — main pressure, case drain flow, and whether the fault is hot or cold.
The grade you want quoted — we quote every grade available and say when the cheaper line is false economy.
Quantity and destination port — complete pumps ship by sea or air freight; internals and seal kits move by express.

Main Hydraulic Pumps — FAQ

Do you supply pump internals separately from complete pumps?Yes — rotating groups, cylinder blocks, valve plates, piston assemblies, regulators, seal kits and drive couplings are all quoted from the pump nameplate number.
How do I request a quotation and how fast will I get a reply?Send the pump nameplate photo, machine model and serial, symptoms, quantity and destination port via the contact page; Guangzhou Shenyue Machinery Technology Co., Ltd. normally replies within 24 hours with all grades quoted and lead times stated honestly.
Do you supply pumps for brands other than Kobelco?Yes — the K3V/K5V family and other pump series are quoted across Komatsu, Hitachi, Sany, XCMG and other makes, identified from the pump nameplate rather than the badge on the machine.

Send the Pump Nameplate First

A main pump is too expensive to order on a guess. Send the pump nameplate photo, the machine serial and the symptoms, and the team at Guangzhou Shenyue Machinery Technology Co., Ltd. will confirm what fits, quote every grade, and tell you honestly if the fault is somewhere cheaper.
