Kobelco SK200-8 Hydraulic Pump Guide

After the engine, the main hydraulic pump is the most expensive component on a Kobelco SK200-8. It is also the one that quietly decides how fast the machine digs, how smooth the operator's day is, and how big the repair invoice is when something goes wrong. This guide covers the pump fitted to the SK200-8, the warning signs that usually appear before it fails, and the realistic options when it is time to replace it.

Which Pump Does the SK200-8 Use?

The SK200-8 (and its close relatives SK200-8S, SK210-8 and SK210LC-8) is normally fitted with a Kawasaki K3V112DT tandem piston pump โ€” a single housing containing two rotating groups driven from one shaft, feeding the main control valve and, through a pilot line, the swing and travel circuits. The K3V series comes from the precision machinery business of Kawasaki Heavy Industries, which is why the same pump family appears on many 20-ton class machines from several brands.

Because the SK200 family spans several generations (-8, -8S, -10) and markets, the only safe identification is the pump nameplate. The nameplate carries the pump model and serial number; a photo of it is the fastest way for us to quote the correct assembly or parts kit.

Full assembly.Complete K3V112DT pump assembly โ€” the fastest repair, the highest cost.
Rotating group.Pistons, cylinder block, valve plate and shoe plate as a set โ€” the common middle path.
Individual parts.Single pistons, valve plates, seals and regulators โ€” right when the damage is localised.
Related parts.Coupling, drive gear, suction filter and hydraulic filter kits โ€” usually replaced at the same time.

Seven Warning Signs of a Failing Main Pump

A K5V pump rarely fails without notice. These are the symptoms our customers report most often before a pump comes off the machine:

Cycle times getting slower. The machine still works, but digging and lifting take noticeably longer โ€” usually the first sign of internal leakage.
Whining that gets louder when the oil is hot.A cold-start whine that fades is often normal; a whine that grows through the day is not.
Milky or foamy hydraulic oil.Water or air in the oil destroys the oil film between the piston and cylinder block.
Metal particles in the suction filter or return filter.Brass or steel dust in a filter is a pump reporting its own autopsy.
Attachments drifting or creeping.Internal leakage past the valve plate shows up as a boom or arm that will not hold position.
Hydraulic oil running hot.Leakage converts pressure into heat; a pump on the way out often shows a rising operating temperature.
Engine loading without load. The engine lugs or smokes with no attachment resistance โ€” a regulator or pump internal fault.

Genuine, OEM or Aftermarket โ€” What Should You Buy?

We supply all three grades, and we label every quotation so there is no guessing. The right answer depends on the machine's remaining life, the job it does and the budget it has.

Genuine.Original-supply parts in original packaging. The default choice for machines under warranty-adjacent age or for customers who spec original only.
OEM quality.Same production lines or the same factories that supply original assembly โ€” without the brand box. The practical choice for most 15,000-hour working machines.
Aftermarket.Clearly identified as aftermarket, selected by our technical team after years of trial and rejection. Budget-conscious choice for older machines nearing teardown.

Whatever the grade, the part number, the nameplate photo and the old part photos travel with the order โ€” so what arrives is what was discussed.

Before You Order: Five Checks

Photo of the pump nameplate.Model and serial numbers settle the question in seconds.
Machine model and serial number.SK200-8, SK200-8S and SK210LC-8 share parts but not all parts.
The part number you already have.Even a partially worn number helps us cross-check our catalogue.
Photos of the failed part.We can often tell from a photo whether a full assembly is needed or a rotating group is enough.
Where the machine works.Ambient temperature and duty cycle change what we recommend for oil, filters and seals.

SK200-8 Hydraulic Pump โ€” FAQ

How much is a SK200-8 main pump?It depends on the grade and on whether a complete assembly or a rotating group is needed. Send the nameplate photo and we quote wholesale prices, with the grade marked on the quote.
How fast can you ship?Common SK200-8 pump parts are in stock and ship within days by air express; complete assemblies and made-to-order items take longer. We confirm the actual lead time with the quotation.
Do you supply other SK200-8 hydraulic parts?Yes โ€” control valves, swing and travel motors, pilot pumps, cylinders, seal kits, hoses and sensors. See our hydraulic system range.
