How to Read a Kobelco Part Number

Two buyers send the same enquiry. One writes "a fuel filter for a SK200-8". The other writes "VH15613E0120, SK200-8, serial YM02-12345". The first gets a follow-up question and a day of delay. The second gets a quotation the same morning. Part numbers are the common language of this trade โ€” and you do not need to speak it fluently to avoid the expensive mistakes. Here is the decoder we use internally.

Why the Number Beats the Photo

A photo shows what a part looks like. A part number says what the part is โ€” which machine generation it fits, which engine it was matched to, and whether it has been superseded by a newer revision. Two filters can look identical and fit different machines; two sensors can look identical and fail silently with the wrong calibration. When a shipment is wrong, it is almost always because somebody ordered from a picture.

The Prefix Families You Will Actually Meet

Kobelco part numbers are not random. The opening letters point to a part family, and once you recognise a few of them, a number starts telling you what it is before you look it up:

YN โ€”Very common on genuine maintenance and wear parts: filters (YN11P00034R100 air filter set, YN50V00020F1 pilot filter), potentiometers and other electricals.
VH โ€”Engine-side parts, especially on HINO-powered machines: fuel filters (VH15613E0120, VH23390E0050), injectors (VH23670E0010), oil pressure sensors (VH83530E0220).
LS โ€”Pressure sensors and switchgear: LS52S00015P1 high-pressure sensor, shared across the SK-8 electrical system.
LC / YN52S โ€”Control and monitoring items: potentiometers (YN52S00103P1), controllers and their related sensors.
Model-shaped numbers. Some numbers start with the shape of the machine or component itself, such as LC30V00028F5 for a main control valve.
Not universal.Prefixes are a strong hint, not a guarantee โ€” always confirm against the catalogue or a nameplate before ordering.

Machine Model vs Part Number

"SK200-8" is a machine model. It is not a part number, and it is not enough to order most parts โ€” but it is essential context. Note the distinction between SK200-8 and SK210LC-8: the LC marks a long-carrier undercarriage configuration, and while many upper-structure parts are shared, undercarriage and some hydraulic items are not. The same applies across the -8, -8S and -10 generations: a part may fit three of them, two of them, or exactly one.

Suffixes: Generations and Revisions

-8 / -8S / -10.Machine generation. It changes emissions, electronics and โ€” more often than buyers expect โ€” the parts attached to them.
F1, F3, P1โ€ฆRevision and variant markers. YN59S00021F1 and YN59S00021F3 are both monitor panel references, but they are not interchangeable on every machine. Quoting the full number, suffix included, is what prevents a returned shipment.
Supersession. Some older numbers are replaced by newer ones. A supplier who knows the supersession chain can still supply a machine that left the factory twenty years ago.

Five Ordering Mistakes That Cost Money

Truncated numbers.A number read over the phone loses its tail. Confirm in writing.
Ordering from a photo.Lookalike parts are the single largest source of returns in this trade.
Assuming -8 and -10 share everything. They share a model name, not a parts book.
Ignoring the suffix.F1 and F3 can be a different calibration, not just a newer box.
Skipping the engine number. On HINO J05/J08-powered machines, the engine number is often the fastest way to the right fuel-system part โ€” HINO engines also carried their own numbering alongside the machine's.

How We Verify Before We Quote

Every enquiry at Corbay goes through the same check: part number against our catalogue and inventory, machine model and generation against the parts book, and โ€” when anything is unclear โ€” a request for the nameplate photo. Our technical team members each have more than ten years of Kobelco parts experience, and they would rather ask one extra question than ship one wrong part.

If you have a part number you cannot place, send it over. We will tell you what it is, what it fits, and what it has been superseded by โ€” whether or not you buy it from us.

Corbay Excavator Parts is the international export brand of Shenyue Machinery (Guangzhou Shenyue Machinery Technology Co., Ltd.), Guangzhou, China. Shenyue is an independent parts specialist and is not affiliated with, or an authorized dealer of, Kobelco Limited.
