Excavator Pilot Valves, Solenoid Valves and Relief Valves: Diagnosis and Cross-Brand Buying

Solenoid valves and coils held in the Shenyue warehouse

Solenoid and proportional valve bodies

Main control valve assemblies and cartridge components
A pilot valve costs a tiny fraction of a hydraulic pump and produces symptoms that get mistaken for one. When one function on an excavator dies, creeps or refuses to hold while every other function behaves normally, the fault is usually in the pilot circuit - the joystick or travel pilot valve, the proportional solenoid, the relief cartridge or the slow-return check. This guide explains how to separate pilot faults from pump faults across the brands we supply every day, and how to buy the right valve the first time. Guangzhou Shenyue Machinery Technology Co., Ltd. quotes these parts from its Guangzhou warehouse.
Corbay is the international export brand of Guangzhou Shenyue Machinery Technology Co., Ltd., Guangzhou, China. The company supplies excavator parts for more than 100 machine brands, holds 3,000+ part types on the shelf, and can order 100,000+ part numbers through original supply channels.
Which Valve Is Which
Symptoms That Point at the Pilot Circuit
Four patterns are worth memorising. A single dead function with everything else normal points at the pilot valve spool or the solenoid for that function. A function that works but is slow and cannot be modulated points at the proportional solenoid or a blocked pilot filter. Creep and drift on one cylinder points at the slow-return valve, the holding valve or the spool, not the pump. A machine that will not travel straight and pulls to one side while the travel pressures are correct points at the travel pilot valve or the travel spool. In every one of those cases a gauge on the pilot line answers the question in minutes, and the wrong part is the most expensive thing a fitter can buy.
Reference Numbers We Quote
Concrete examples from our own catalogue: the travel pilot valve commonly quoted as YN30V00080F1 / YY30V00061F2 / 10181-0000A, the hand pilot valve PX30V00043F4 for the SK30 to SK75-8 classes, and the pilot valve YT22V00021F1C for the SK75-8. On the solenoid side we quote units such as 40C50-213 / YN35V00049F1K, the coil assembly 8KWE5A-30 / G24WR-832 / 50081009-9348 under YN35V00039F1, and the spare solenoid relief valve YN22V00035F1 for the SK200-9 class, alongside main relief valve references such as YN22V00001F4 / LC22V00011F1. Numbers like these are machine-specific, and where a reference is only commonly quoted rather than fully confirmed, the quotation says so - the nameplate and the number on the old valve are the authority.
What Decides Whether a Valve Fits
Five details separate a correct valve from a lookalike: the mounting and port pattern; the spool or cartridge type; the coil voltage and current - 12 V, 24 V and the connector moulding differ between machine generations; the relief setting or the metering characteristic; and the seal material. Two valves can be identical in appearance and different in all five. That is why we quote from the number on the old component and a photograph of the connector, not from the machine model alone. For hydraulic fundamentals on the pumps and valves downstream of the pilot circuit, Kawasaki Heavy Industries' khi.co.jp remains a useful neutral reference, while the Kobelco-focused site shenyuekobelco.com covers SK-series hydraulics model by model.

What to Send for a Valve Quotation
Send the machine model and serial number; the number on the old valve, even if it is only partly readable; a photograph of the valve, its connector and its mounting; the coil voltage if marked; the quantity; and the destination port. Quotations normally come back within 24 hours with the body, the coil and the seal kit priced separately, and photographs of the actual goods before dispatch. Where a valve is only available as a complete assembly, the quotation says so rather than leaving the buyer to discover it on arrival.
Valve Buying - FAQ
Buy the Valve, Not the Guess
The cheapest valve is the correct one. Measure the pilot pressure, read the number on the old component, photograph the connector, and send the details to the team at Guangzhou Shenyue Machinery Technology Co., Ltd. The valve will be identified, quoted in every available grade, and photographed before it is packed in Guangzhou.
